    Thank you to everyone who attended the Aboriginal Alcohol and Other Drug  Forum in early May. Presenters spoke on subjects as varied as the new Strong Spirit Strong Mind resources, culturally secure supervision, AOD service provision and funding throughout Australia, and how to recruit and retain Aboriginal staff members. National Drug and Alcohol Awards - Nominate Now!

Many excellent people in exceptional organisations work to prevent the harms associated with alcohol and other drugs (AOD) use. These awards give recognition to these people who often are overlooked. Nominations are now open.

Awards to be presented at the NDAA Presentation Dinner in Brisbane on 25 June 2010 are:

  • Prime Minister's Award for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Drug and Alcohol Endeavours
  • National Drug and Alcohol Honour Roll
  • Excellence in Treatment and Support
  • Excellence in Prevention and Community Education
  • Excellence in Research
  • Excellence in Services to Young People
  • Excellence in School Drug Education
  • Excellence in Law Enforcement
  • Excellence in Alcohol and other drug Media reporting, and
  • Excellence in Creating Healthy Sport Communities.

Nominations for the 2010 Awards will close on Friday, 16 April 2010 to enable the Judging Panels to assess the entries and agree on finalists.

 

The awards were initiated by the Ted Noffs Foundation, the Australian National Council on Drugs (ANCD), the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA), and the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF). The 2010 awards are being coordinated by the Ted Noffs Foundation and DRUG ARM (Australasia). The collaborating organisations acknowledge the support of the Prime Minister and our sponsors.
