Improved Services Initiative / National Comorbidity Capacity Building Project
Under the National Action Plan on Mental Health (2006-2011)the Commonwealth has implemented measures to improve services for people with a mental illness, their families and carers. One initiative under this plan is Improved Services for People with Drug and Alcohol Problems and Mental Illness (Improved Services Initiative).
There are two components to this Improved Services Initiative funded by the Department of Health and Ageing.
- The first component is designed as a capacity building grants program. The target group for this funding is alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment services of non-government organisations. In Western Austalia there are 11 Agencies or Consortia who were successful in securing grants. They have five key objectivesto focus on throughout the project.
- The second component is designed to support the capacity building grant recipients by having a state wide approach. The target group for this funding is the AOD non-government peak body or its equivalent. In Western Australia WANADA was successful in securing this funding and the project is known as (CSSSPP)-Cross Sectorial Support and Strategic Partnerships Project. There are also four key focus areas of this project.
For member agencies our comorbid specific resources are available through our Digital Library. Additional resources and infomation will be added to this page regularly.
