Goldfields Aboriginal workers who deal with alcohol and other drug issues as part of their work met for the first time in Kalgoorlie on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 June 2010. Participants appreciated the chance to share information about the services available in the Goldfields and to discuss ways to improve services for local Aboriginal people. Congratulations to Strong Spirit Strong Mind Award Winners
13/05/2010 WANADA, the Drug and Alcohol Office and the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health took great pleasure in announcing the winners of the 2010 Strong Spirit Strong Mind Awards at the recent Aboriginal AOD Forum.
Congratulations to Aboriginal AOD Worker of the Year, Alex McIntosh from the Midwest Community Drug Service, winners of the Innovative and Culturally Secure Aboriginal Alcohol and Other Drugs Program Joanne D'Cress and Phoebe Mawo Adung from the Kimberley Community Drug Service Team and the joint winners of the Partnership Award - Norseman Aboriginal Community and Population Health Goldfields for the voluntary Norseman Liquor Agreement and the Djarinjin Local Drug Action Group, Department for Child Protection, and the Multifunction Centre at Lombadina / Djarinjin for their popular Events and Barbecue Cart. |

The awards are to identify individuals, projects and agencies that have made a significant improvement in the health and well being of Aboriginal people affected by alcohol and other drugs. The awards are an annual event.
