Prevention Projects

WANADA strives to build the capacity of the alcohol and other drug sector through diverse and comprehensive projects.  Some of these include: The Directory of WA Community AOD Agencies, Drug Aware Prevention Partnersip, and Drug Action Week.

The Directory of WA Community AOD Agencies - the Green Book

The current print issue of the directory was produced in 2006 and is popular reference for people working in the community sector across the state. Search the Service Directory to find alcohol and other drug services that work with your community.

Drug Aware Prevention Partnership

Drug Aware webpage linkWANADA works in partnership with the Western Australian Drug and Alcohol Office (DAO) to undertake illicit drug prevention campaigns under the Drug Aware brand name. WANADA's role is to manage campaign funds, to inform campaign development based on consultation with the alcohol and other drug service sector, and to explore ways to integrate prevention approaches with broader community-based prevention activities. Drug Aware campaigns include the Drug Aware Youth Drug Driving Campaign and the Drug Aware Amphetamine Education Campaign. Drug Aware also sponsors events including the Pro Masters Margaret River surfing event.

Drug Action Week - WA

Drug ActDrug Action Week webpage linkion Week is coordinated nationally by the Alcohol and Drug Council of Australia (ADCA) and WANADA is represented on the ADCA Drug Action Week reference group. In 2009 WANADA, in partnership with Mission Australia - DAYS, WASUA and AADS, hosted two screenings of Samson & Delilah for two groups of young people.  These screenings were followed by debrief and music sessions where key themes from the films were discussed.  WANADA also supports services to host events through promotion and the production of a local Drug Action Week calendar of events.
