Member & Sector Services

WANADA is a membership-driven organisation comprising most of Western Australia's alcohol and other drug agencies. Member agencies provide education, advocacy, community development, prevention, treatment and support services.

Child Care Access Program

The Child Care Access Program makes it easier for people to attend counselling and treatment by covering the cost of childcare while a caregiver is attending counselling. There are registered childcare centres across the state participating in the project. Initiated in 2000, the Child Care Access Project continues to grow.

Interpreter Access Project

For many people, engaging in alcohol and other drug counselling can be daunting process, let alone if they experience cultural and/or linguistic barriers. WANADA covers interpreter costs of clients accessing member agencies, with the goal of improving access to organisations by people experiencing cultural and linguistic barriers (including people with English as a second language, Kimberley indigenous language speakers, and people who are deaf and hard of hearing).

Information about the project, the benefits of involving an interpreter for both AOD clients and workers, special considerations and how to go about it, can be found in the Interpreter Access Project Manual.
