Aboriginal Services
WANADA is committed to making alcohol and other drug services culturally secure so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are able to access them without compromising their cultural or family values. We do this by supporting agencies and programs that offer services to Aboriginal people and through our support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who choose to work in the alcohol and other drug sector.
Aboriginal Network Gathering
The Aboriginal Network Gatherings are meetings designed for all Aboriginal alcohol and other drug workers to meet and discuss alcohol and other drug issues and to establish a support network.
The Aboriginal Network involves Aboriginal organisations and workers, offering an opportunity to network, discuss ideas, and to work out ways that the alcohol and other drug sector can better support Aboriginal workers, organisations and consumers. Participants contribute to advocacy and representation, and to workforce and sector development.

Aboriginal Recruitment and Retention Guide for the Alcohol and other Drug Sector

The guide is designed to support managers and CEOs in the alcohol and other drug sector to attract and retain Aboriginal workers, using an approach that involves the whole organisation. The guide include information on how to advertise positions in a culturally secure way and offers information about cultural considerations when employing people who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
