Freo Street Doctor - Casual Relief Outreach Workers and Van Drivers

The FREO StreetDoctor is looking for casual relief Outreach workers and Van drivers for our service.

Freo StreetDoctor provides free medical services to transient, low income, homeless and at risk marginalised people in Fremantle and surrounding areas.  The Freo StreetDoctor practice is mobile and operates from a large van that is fully equipped with everything you find in a standard General Practice.   The program currently offers eight, 3 hour sessions each week in specific locations.  Each session has a GP, Nurse and Outreach worker/driver in attendance.

Drivers & Outreach workers will provide an outreach service for the FREO StreetDoctor clients and potential client by facilitating communication, providing education and information and looking after the van at each location.   Duties include encouraging potential clients to service, greeting clients, data collection (assisting clients to fill in necessary forms with medicare information etc),  managing the  wait-list outside of the van and offering assistance where required.  The worker may also provide information on local services in the community, including where to access Accommodation, Counselling, Emergency assistance and other local agencies information.

Drivers will need to have their LR License and will also be responsible for picking up the van from its parking facility and taking it to the designated clinic, connecting the power cords, occasional cleaning of the van and other necessary duties.

Experience working with disadvantaged or marginalised populations is necessary.  LR license is preferred but not required as you can solely do outreach and not drive (Performing both roles is preferred)  There is also the opportunity to obtain your LR license and provide both duties.

Casual workers are  needed for relief for all shifts and will be called for cancellations and shift covers during staff leave, with possibility of new clinics in the future.
